Eden Foodservice comes runner-up in FreeFrom Eating Out Awards

Eden Foodservice is one of three runners-up at the second annual FreeFrom Eating Out Awards, which recognises good practice in managing allergies within the foodservice sector.

Judges praised the school caterer, stating: “As corporate members of the Anaphylaxis Campaign you would expect Eden to provide a comprehensive service for the 60,000 children that they care for – but they really go over and beyond.”

Eden lost out to Oscar & Bentleys restaurant in Canterbury, which was the overall winner, and was a joint winner in the Schools, Colleges and Universities category, sponsored by Thomas Ridley Food Service, with Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge.

Wilson Jones Catering at Kingfield Primary School was highly commended. The judge’s comments were: “Excellent awareness of severe food allergy and the procedures needed to keep the children safe – yet they are still seeking to ‘include’ even the most allergic children wherever possible. A hard job within a primary school environment.”

The awards were presented by Anthony Worrall Thompson at the Food Matters Live event in London’s Docklands.
