JJ Food Service has renewed a multi-million pound contract to supply school meals for the London Borough of Newham.
Newham has been receiving frozen goods from the national wholesaler for four years and JJ will now also add grocery lines to the contract, more than doubling its value.
“We are delighted to build on our relationship with JJ,” said Michael Hales, Managing Director of Newham’s school meals service. “Competitive pricing was key together with JJ’s expertise in technology, enabling us to expand operations in a paperless environment.”
The move comes ahead of major changes within Newham’s school meals service, which in spring 2018 is being externalized as a standalone business under the name Juniper Ventures Limited. Newham is one of a small number of local authorities that provides free school meals to all children in primary school.
