Cordia (Services) LLP’s new school meals mascot, Broccoli Bill, has made his first school visit, to Clyde Primary School where he was designed by 11-year-old Ruairidh McKenzie.
Ruairidh won a competition to design a new mascot for Glasgow’s school meals service which would be turned into a life-sized mascot and used across the Fuel Zone brand’s marketing materials. Ruairidh’s winning design of a broccoli dressed in traditional Scottish attire was decided by a panel of judges to become the face of Fuel Zone, among over a thousand entries.
“Ruairidh has shown off his creative skills by producing a design which embodies both healthy eating and Scottish heritage,” said Julie McCreadie, Cordia’s head of Encore and facilities management. “Bill will be making a number of visits to Fuel Zones across Glasgow, so be sure to keep an eye out for our big friendly green giant.”
Fuel Zones were introduced across Glasgow in 1999 and through regular rebranding are able to replicate the high street offering and create an attractive place to eat for children in schools.
